Robbing Bastards

Call me stupid but i see today that the councils have been selling our personal details to junk mail companies.

What!!?? how is this not illegal already.

Let me get this right we register to vote, a right that every person has and then the councils profit off this by selling our details and keeping the money.

Did we have a say? Did we bollocks. They just went ahead and did it anyway

What kind of country do we live in?

I wish I could say I was surprised by this, but I'm not. This government, and its various institutions and departments, treats our personal information with a cavalier attitude that is quite frightening. Day after day we see more of our information slipping out of the government's control - either through being sold, or being lost.

And to make matters worse, they want to keep more information on us than they already do!

Oh, and while I'm having a pop, the DVLA have been flogging our information for years. Made them quite a bit of money apparently.

I was an attorney with the (great) State of Texas back in the 1990s and the Department I worked for sold employee data tapes to marketing companies. Folks raised a stink and eventually employees had the option of opting out of having their names publicized.

Where's the compo? Where's my share of the money?

In Gordon Brown's back pocket, that's where.

Bloody little shit.

Can you sue to recover a portion of the money? If you're property, make 'em pay, and pay like hell.
