Ed Balls is a Wanker

The recent attempt to claw back some credibility for our Labour government is for Ed Balls AKA Wanker to draw up a white paper on the reform of Schools and Teaching. Reading about this as angered me in some many ways and not because teachers will be getting regular checks because on this I do agree but the complete nonsense this tit is chatting.
5 Year MOT?? What?? I was under the impression the every 3 to 5 years a school was inspected by Ofsted in which the whole school and teachers are assessed and highly scrutinised not to mention schools should be having regular in staff observations as part of development. Surely the Wankers new idea will just creates more work and stress for Teachers. Oh and money.
One to One tuition for failing students and possible legal action by parents? Hmm what a way to convince people to teach, surely there will have to be an increase in staff especially in those schools in more deprived areas as these children who are below average will need a tutor each to ensure they get their entitlement. Again this will cost more money.
Punishing state school for not wanting to merge with other school and losing there identity, which in some cases has taken decades to accomplish, this is the cheapest shot. To have one super head to lead a chain of schools like some sort of fast food joint is absolute disgrace. My personnel experience of modern ambitious heads is that they become completely out of touch with teaching and run the schools as business and not an educational institute. And with Labours current record of running the country they will surely run our education system as well as our children’s future even further into the shit. With a greater cost to our taxes.
To finish, what gives this Wanker the qualification apart from winning a seat and then pushed into a position that he really didn’t want to write about a profession that he knows nothing about and has no connection with apart his own personal experiences as a child. We really may as well ask any member of the public to come and have a go at being an educationalist or run the countries education system. There is no secret in the fact that he never wanted the job and in the last reshuffle he wanted the chancellors job only to smack back down by Bummer Boy Brown, this alone doesn’t hold much faith. This whole white paper is a lame justification to raise taxes more to cover their fuck ups and in the process pull teachers through the dirt in a half arsed attempt to try a straighten a dwindling society. What a Wanker!

Bad day at the office dear?

Its strange how people react to change or how people get stuck in their ways, I work with many different people with many different views and perception on all things. Working with the younger generation and seeing how their minds work is a beautiful thing even when said generation are a bunch of soap dodgers in great need of a bath and a decent meal. Oh the life of a student. My picture today is the work of a student I teach from time to time, the idea of intervening with a used space. After many other attempts he chose to use the staff car park blocking each space with a tree stump, he then videoed the response and reactions of staff turning up to work only to find they cant park their beloved car. This may seem all very childish and more of prank than art, but you see human emotions best when it’s not expected. I was surprised to see so much anger and frustration of having to move a stump or experiencing something completely out of the norm. It true that people in cars are angry people where as all the people that walked passed chuckled. Now I’m no tree hugger but I think it was 1-0 to the trees today.

Say a prayer to St Jude

Changing jobs has been a slow process, leaving my previous position abruptly before summer didn't help in preparing myself and so the past few months i have been looking for work and trying to rebuild my confidence.

Friday Monkey had an interview and despite not getting the job made it to the final three but lost it to an older more qualified and experienced person. I was surprised on how this made me feel as i came away feeling great and a little part of that confidence came back. So i have decided to try something a little different and go for a job that i can build. I have never seemed to have done thing in the right order, always going my own way and so this could be something more suited for me, the money would be less than I'm use to but should this be an issue? We would all like to be paid alot of money for the things we enjoy but then that is not always the case. And being the generation of me, me, me and now, now, now maybe its time for a different perspective. Who knows what will happen or if its even possible, but maybe by the end of the week there will be some clarity.

So as few of my friends have said over the past week, " say a prayer to St Jude".

Get the sen a trade lad!

Its been rather a fast week all in all. I have applied for two jobs, one of which i kind of really would like the other is more of a temporary thing. Although i did find out that a friend of mine will be going for the same job which as caused some mixed feeling and anxiety about whether or not ill get a call back. Anyway its a waiting game and I'm quite patient.

This week iv been mostly been turning my hand to all things, Art, Textile Design and Product Design to name but a few, but one of the high lights of my week was getting to do some metal work. Its been a long time since iv had an opportunity to use my skills and i was surprised how much i still have them, which reminds me of something my Grandad use to say. "Get the sen a trade lad, to fall back on when times are grim". And he was right because despite the degree it may well be the Engineering trade that will secure my next post.

Good ode Aub, always looking over me.

Kneel Infidel

I wonder why teachers and schools get bad press and then i read this. I find it so hard to believe in the education system when there are such idiots in the field and although i have just started out i have met a few already.
It is importnat to teach children about the different religions out there and how these work and fit into our society, god knows there are enough of them and some are getting bigger. But i found this really disturbing, and it seriously disregards the human rights of these children. How are the parents going to trust schools when they punish them for not praying to Mo.

Alsager High seems to have the worst deputy head teacher who responded with,

"It's difficult to know at the moment whether this was part of the curriculum or
not. I am not an RE teacher, I am an English teacher."
Try opening the National curriculum and finding out, i guarantee it says nothing about forcing pupils to prey.

Education is an Extra

At a recent Headteachers conference in Liverpool it was said that the 'back to work culture' in the UK is responsible for the neglect of children's education in primary schools.
As the government erg parents back to work after child birth, it is becoming more common that children are been put into childcare at a young age for large periods of time, and this continues into primary school where breakfast clubs are available and parents can drop the children off into school at earlier times. With this in mind and the obvious after school clubs that are pushed onto children it is seen that children only get a short amount of quality time with parents at home before its time for bed.
With the recent controversial pay disputes and strikes by teachers, it seems that teachers are now not only having to add more time to their school timetable but this has a knock on effect as to how much time they have left to do the prep work for lessons. Surely this effects the quality of teaching and life of a teacher as they continue to give up more of their personal time for the sake of the kids.
Im all up for parents getting back to work but should it be at the cost of the children's education? and if parents are working all day, do they have the time or energy to spend with their children in the evening to support home learning?
Beverley Hughes Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families seems to think that this is not the case and that there are only a small minority that abuse these services, although she was present at the conference and the concerns she received from the Headteachers seemed to be water of a ducks back, as her infinite wisdom dismisses the first hand experiences from schools.
In a recent discussion on another blog, it was argued that previous generations had better educations at home than they get now in school. This went on to blame the quality of teachers in school's. I have to say that today's generation of parents have less interest in education and knowledge of the subjects taught in schools, further to this parents have less time to spend with their children or are blatantly less interested and use school as a child minding service while they nip to the pub. As today's generation of parents become younger, so young in fact that they are barely out of education themselves let alone have the real life experiences to cope with parenthood, is it any wonder why education is in disarray. Education can only be effective if the children are getting equal support outside school, parents need to put in just as much effort and interest as teachers to ensure their child's successful education.

Bring on the Cheap Labour

I should have posted Thursday but unfortunately i was rather busy putting the car in for an MOT. So this week saw the teachers go on strike over pay, this has caused quite alot of arguments in whether or not they should receive better pay.
Personally i feel that they should be given a better deal than the 2.4% rise that was negotiated however 4% maybe a little unrealistic. I have some mixed feelings about striking in that, this profession has a knock on effect that is wide spread, as parents need to take time off work or find sitters for their children it cost those parents money in some way or form. And for those parents that cant afford? well im sure one or two children were left home alone on Thursday which is concerning to say the least.
What i know is that teachers work 12 hour days and weekends to ensure that they keep up with their responsibilities as a teacher. I know that when i was an engineer i got paid overtime and by the hour but this is not so for teachers. The media reports that teachers earn on average £32,000 a year , well id have to say that this number can not be right as a majority of teachers in schools are on the main pay scale and that only goes up to £29,000. It is only when teachers take on management positions do they start to earn this kind of money.
Teachers do have very good holidays but this is not always a good thing as unlike those parents that take their children out of school during term time to go on holiday, teachers have to wait and pay the peak prices to go away. Also i am aware that this time should also used for planning to ensure our children are taught exciting new subject topics unlike those days of boring copying out of a book.
One out of the six unions took part in the strike to get better pay, however im pretty sure that if a better deal is negotiated that those other five unions will accept that money. Its just a shame they all didn't stand together on this as im sure this issue would be solved more quickly instead of it resulting in another strike in the near future.
And lets face it, their are not many people out their that truly want to spend their days with badly behaved children, you don't that's why your glad to get rid of them in the morning.
Plus as this government insists on filling our country with the filth, well this also must enter our school where teachers have try and teach modern day values to children that do not want to be taught and do not speak English. A typical School in Manchester or London can have up to 13 different languages and high level of pupils that do not speak English and that will be their one day and shipped out the next. All in all teachers have a shit job at the best of times with this government fucking this country up, so is it not fair that they at least get paid fairly? The job may not be rewarding enough as the novelty wares off and your left with the cheap unqualified teachers from eastern Europe teaching your children, but i guess that just another step into this countries inevitable future.
